“Thank You, Well” Photovoice Calendar Contest

Photovoice contest

The Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District invites residents of Bastrop and Lee Counties to participate in our Photovoice Calendar Contest, themed “Thank You, Well.” This contest uses photography and storytelling to highlight the importance of water wells and groundwater in everyday life.

In this contest, participants are encouraged to capture a photograph that shows why they are thankful for how a water well or groundwater supports homes, land, livestock, gardens, or simple daily routines, and to pair that image with a short written story explaining its meaning.

Your submission might reflect the quiet reliability of a household well, the role groundwater plays in agriculture, or a personal moment that shows why wells matter to you and your community.

How to Participate

  • Submit one high-resolution photo (JPEG or PNG)
  • Include a short written narrative (100–200 words) describing the photo and why water wells or groundwater are important in your life
  • Each participant may submit one entry
  • Entries should be submitted by email to cmarks@lostpineswater.org by March 31
  • The contest is open to all residents within LPGCD boundaries in Bastrop and Lee Counties.

Judging & Prizes

Entries will be judged anonymously based on photo composition, originality, storytelling impact, and relevance to the theme.

Prizes include:

  • 1st Place: $200
  • 2nd Place: $100
  • 3rd Place: $75
  • Honorable Mention: $50
  • Calendar Selections (8): $25 each

Winning and selected entries will be featured in the LPGCD’s communications and calendar, celebrating the stories and images that show why groundwater matters in our communities.
